So much depth and layering of the character that seems like it can keep revealing as he keeps growing. In this season finale we see a side of Sherlock he hardly ever shows. His character is hard to like almost, and the character doesn't care, but does. His body, the way he holds and moves it, his facial expression, none of which show off his real handsomeness, is amazing. So he is the reason I tuned in to this version, and I love what he's done with the character. I've enjoyed Jonny Lee Miller's work since "Eli Stone," backtracking his career which got me into British Drama much more. I find I welcome such an inventive version of the classic. The crimes, the interface with the NYPD with great actors (that didn't have enough to do), Aiden Quinn and Jon Michael Hill, and watching them all affect each other through conflicts, betrayals, along with other great actors playing various supporting roles from the incredible idea of a female Moriarty as nemesis, it all seems almost unworkable until it becomes incredibly workable and fascinating. The development of relationships and character arcs throughout the years has been a delight to watch. ![]() And we meet Watson as the unwelcome sober companion former surgeon hired by Sherlock's father to keep him sober who also has an addiction to solving crimes. That a character in modern day as sensitive and intelligent as Sherlock would become an addict makes perfect sense if you think about it. Keep watching people! What I find brilliant about this series began at the first season. I worried that this could be the series finale, and am very grateful it isn't. ![]() What did you think about the season finale? Were you surprised by Sherlock's relapse? What changes would you like to see next season?ĭon't forget you can watch Elementary online via TV Fanatic whenever you need a Holmes and Watson fix.Just finished the season finale season 6 and have been a faithful viewer throughout. At bare minimum, all is not right in Sherlock's world. While it wasn't made explicitly clear that he had relapsed, it seemed highly probable given his blank stare and disheveled state. As the "Previously On" so helpfully reminded us, Sherlock's father would stop all financial support if he used again. What we do know is that Sherlock's father is coming next season. He claimed his health was fragile, so it is possible that Sherlock did do some permanent damage. I don't want Sherlock facing murder charges, although we don't actually know Oscar's condition. He walked towards the tunnel and back to drugs and death.ĭamn you, Oscar. But first, he dropped his phone and connection to Joan, then he picked up the drugs. Sure, he might have beat the crap out of Oscar (and I possibly cheered) but who could blame him, right? When Bell and Watson found Alfredo alive, I knew Sherlock would walk away with his sobriety intact. When he tossed Sherlock some drugs, I wasn't worried. : I was going to be there to watch you fall. Why do you keep fighting it, huh? Why put yourself through this? We both know it's just a matter of time. I was going to be there to watch you fall. ![]() When you realize this is where you belong. To follow his sister's last desperate acts and turn to drugs as she did. Sherlock: You were a cancer to me, Oscar. Sherlock and Oscar were once buddies and fueled each other's addiction. Was that logical? No, but absolutely plausible given Oscar's drug addled brain. In his guilt, sadness, rage or all of the above, he blamed Sherlock. He knew where his sister was the whole time. Oscar might be dumb, but he also had Sherlock's number.
